A river craft on shore at Boulac, 13th March 1855
Dillon, a landscape painter and traveller, was a pupil of James Holland and studied at the Royal Academy Schools. He travelled extensively in Egypt where he shared a studio with the Swedish artist Egron Sellif Lundgren. He went to Japan and afterwards exhibited his Japanese work at Agnews in 1877. Boulac is now a suburb of Cairo.
