The 'Beagle' in the Bass Straits

The account of the ‘Beagle’’s third voyage “Discoveries in Australia” by John Lort Stokes, published by T & W Boone, has many illustrations by Gore. It is possible that both this and PAH0068 were sketches by him that were not used for this purpose. From the remains of the inscription at the bottom right hand side, this picture appears to show the ‘Beagle’ moored in East Cove, Kent Group (see vol. II, p.442).
