Hand-coloured. The 'Madagascar', a 1000-ton Indiaman, is depecited in the centre of the picture. The portrait is dedicated to Captains Fortesque and William Harris, as well as other officers of the ship. Harris commanded the ship from 1852 to 1854, as recorded by Lloyds register.
