The Norfolk 1000 Tons

This coloured impression gives the name of the commander as Bryant Tonkin, who was Norfolk’s best known commander. The uncoloured impression (PAH0647) gives the name as George Coleman.
She ran mostly to Australia (H Parker, ‘Catalogue of the Macpherson Collection’). At one time, the Norfolk was believed to be haunted, but the ghost turned out to be a mentally deranged passenger (Basil Lubbock, ‘The Blackwall Frigates’, p. 263).
