H.M.S. Collingwood 80 Guns (before letters)
Hand-coloured proof print (before inscription) depicting the Collingwood, broadside view, with several other vessels and an unknown coastal landscape in the background. HMS Collingwood was an 80-gun two-deck second rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on 17 August 1841 at Pembroke Dockyard. She was fitted with screw propulsion in 1861, and sold out of the navy in 1867. (Lavery, Brian (2003) The Ship of the Line - Volume 1: The development of the battlefleet 1650-1850).
