The Farm Yard
Print by Pierre Charles Canot after Peter van Laer entitled 'The Farm Yard'. It shows peasants, cattle and horses in a farmyard.
Dutch painter and printmaker, Van Laer, nicknamed "Il Bamboccio" (little clumsy one) on account of his deformed body, was mainly active in Rome (1625-39). He specialised in Italian genre scenes, also called bambocciatas. He attracted many followers in Italy, known as the Bambaccianti.
