Portrait of a captain, ca.1810
A half-length portrait, slightly to the right, showing the unidentified sitter in captain's full dress uniform (1795-1812 pattern). Later additions (?), rear-admiral's stars on the epaulettes and red on the collar, suggest changes to conform to the 1830-43 pattern. Until the sitter is identified, the uniform remains confused.
