She is standing in the foreground to the left of the image facing the camera but her face half-turned to the left of the image. Her right arm is by her side and she is holding a basket or similar receptical in her right. Her left arm is riased and her left hand is on her forehead. She is wearing a dress or wrap that covers her body from her chest to below her knees. Her feet are just out-of-frame but she is probably barefoot. The child can be seen looking out from the left side of her body. Only its head and one of its feet is visible as it is wrapped in a frabic sling or other carrier. It is looking at the camera. The woman is standing on bare earth or grass. A tree can be seen in the background with a branch extending across the top of the image. Various other vegetation can be also be seen behind the fair.
