A guard of honour at Aden
A black and white landscape photograph of a guard of honour standing to attention in Aden. Around 70 men (probably British soldiers) can be seen in two rows, all wearing pith helmets and white uniforms. All have rifles resting their sides and most have a medal on display. Two men stand in front of the two rows; the man furthest from the cameara, holds a furled flag and the man closest to the camera holds a sword resting on his right shoulder. Behind the guard, seven flags can be seen. One of these flags features the Union Flag in the top right corner. Two buildings can be seen. The building towards the centre of the image has at least two storeys and features a balcony, with people on it watching the scene from above. The building on the right of the image is one storey tall and has a crenelated roof. Behind the building on the right of the image there is a slope of a mountain or hill, with a crowd of people (possibly Yemeni) standing and watching the scence from above. There is another hill or mountain in the background with one or more buildings at its base. Original caption (Handwritten below photograph): 'Guard of Honor at Aden'.
