Inscribed on the reverse: "Principal Dimensions of H.M. Steam Frigate 'Avenger'. Length between the Perps 210 ft. Length of Keel for Tonnage 181 feet 7 inches. Breadth Extreme 39 feet. Breadth for Tonnage 38 feet 6 inches. Breadth Moulded 37 feet 10 inches. Depth in Hold 25 feet 8 inches. Burthen in Tons No 143166/94. Launched on Tuesday the 5th August 1845 at 5 pm [by Miss Harding added in pencil]. Went out of Harbour 15th June 1846 and sailed on the 21st. Her Engines were made by Messrs Seaward & Co of London & are of the united power of 650 Horses".
