Hand-coloured. A representation of the Dutch Republic fleet (shown on the left) surrendering to the British-Russian fleet (shown right) during the Vlieter Incident of 30th August, 1799. A small rowing boat in the centre facing left carries a white flag denoting surrender. The Isis is shown in the foreground of the British-Russian fleet in port-bow view, the flagship of Vice-Admiral Andrew Mitchell. The flagship of the Dutch fleet, Washington, can be seen in the foreground astern.
