His Majesty's Embarkation at Greenwich, for Scotland August 10th 1822 [George IV]

Technique is engraving and etching. A depiction of the pomp and pagentry surrounding George IV's departure from Greenwich for Edinburgh. The king was the first British monarch to visit Scotland since Charles II. His welcome there, largely orchestrated by Sir Walter Scott, set the seal on the romanticized view of 'historic Scotland' generated by Scott's literary work and launched a lasting royal passion for things Scottish that has endured ever since.
