Lord Viscount Duncan The European Magazine and London Review
An oval bust-length portrait of Adam Duncan (1731–1804) in profile to left wearin admiral’s full-dress uniform with a flag officer’s gold medal for the Battle of Camperdown and the sash and star of the Russian Imperial Order of Saint Alexander Nevsky. Lettered beneath the image with the title, ‘Lord Vicount Duncan.’ Also lettered with the production and publication details: ‘European Magazine. / Ridley sculpt. / Published by J. Sewell, Cornhill. Feby 1st 1798.’ This print was engraved by William Ridley and published by John Swell as an illustration in ‘The European Magazine, and London Review’, volume 33 (January 1798), opposite page 3, alongside a biography of Duncan, pp. 3–4.
