Official boat badge of HMS St Vincent
The boat badge of HMS 'St Vincent' 1927. An official pattern approved in 1927. On a red field, a silver winged horse with gold mane and hooves. Its wings are blue countercharged with a gold fleur de lys. From the arms of Admiral John Jervis, Earl St Vincent. The badge is diamond-shaped with a gold rope twist border representing an auxiliary. It is made of cast brass, painted and drilled at the corners. 'ST VINCENT' is inscribed on the reverse. HMS St 'Vincent' was a boys' training establishment at Gosport, until 1969. During the Second World War, the boys were evacuated and the site was used to train Fleet Air Arm officers and for torpedo training.
