Awarded to George Amelius Douglas, Capt RN. Obverse: Head of Queen Victoria with a diadem, hair tied in a knot (L) Legend: "VICTORIA REGINA".Reverse: At the foot of a palm tree a trophy of flags, cannon, the royal shield, a capstan, etc. Legend: "ARMIS EXPOSCERE PACEM". Exergue: "CHINA". Bar: "TAKU FORTS 1860". Inscription on edge "G.A.DOUGLAS. FLAG LT. TO VC.ADML. SIR J. HOPE". Fitted with a cusped bar and a crimson ribbon.
