Used on Nares' Arctic expedition 1875. Belonged to Lieutenant L A Beaumont, HMS "Discovery". Abandoned during retreat if H M sledge "Sir Edward Parry" along the North Coast of Greenland in 1876. Recovered by Dr Peter Dawes at Repulse Harbour, Nyeboes Land, North Greenland 10 August 1966. Steel, with horn plates on sides. On a plate on the side "L A BEAUMONT"
