Silver box commemorating Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805.

Rectangular silver snuff box, with a hinged lid, and gilt inside. The sides and part of the top is chased with scrolling foliage and floral decoration on a matted ground. The lid has a central engraving of Nelson in an oval garter inscribed with the Trafalgar Signal: 'ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN TO DO HIS DUTY'. The portrait medallion is surmounted by a naval crown, and war trophies are engraved behind (guns, anchors, flags, speaking trumpet, bayonet etc).
