Part of John Harrison's third timekeeper (H3)
An original manuscript drawing by Harrison of parts of H3 during its evolution, probably in the late 1740s. The drawing shows the rear of the clock with the detail of the special isochronising device with the caged roller bearing and the elaborate ‘saddle piece’ to attempt to force the balances into isochronal behaviour.
