smock, foul weather
Off white machine sewn canvas smock. Two hand sewn eyelets on each side near hem for attachment to washing line. Closed by two tape ties at the neck; stand up collar; small pocket on left side. Official issue clothing belonging to Edmund Horton Knott 1872-ca.1937, Keeper of the South Foreland lighthouse in 1901. Probably lifeboat issue.
