Study for A Jetty at Greenwich

An oil study inscribed on the back by Sir Brinsley Ford, in black ball-point, 1984: 'Study for my picture Jetty at Greenwich [title underlined], 1938, by Jesse Dale Cast. Given me with a smaller oil study by the artist's son, David Cast, 12 June 1984. It is my wish that these two oil studies, and the drawings done for the Jetty at Greenwich [underlined] should be kept together as they illustrate the immense trouble the artist took over his paintings. [signed] Brinsley Ford 16. 6. 84'. Above the inscription is a modern paper label with a large red '1' inscribed on it in felt tip. PvdM 4/04
