Metal whistle
A chromium plate whistle, 2" in length. Whistle inscribed 'SCOUT' associated with Lillian Winifred Bentham (Mrs John Black) (1892-1977) of Lifeboat 12 RMS 'Titanic'. Bentham was a second class passenger, who boarded at Southampton (ticket no. 28404, £13). She was given the whistle by Cecil Fitzpatrich, an Irish crewman, after she wrapped him in her coat following the rescue by Lifeboat 12 of 20 men clinging to the upturned Lifeboat B.
