A short duration inlaid mahogany mantel timepiece with quarter repeat and alarm, by Wm. Bartleet of Birmingham made circa 1830
The break arched mahogany case has a hinged front panel with a glazed circular aperture which receives the three-inch enamel dial. The plainly finished pocket watch movement has a chain fusee, verge escapement and is mounted on the larger signed plated, alarm and repeat movement.
William Bartleet of Redditch appears in trade directories listed as a manufacturer of needles and fishing hooks.
