Chaise watch, 30 hour, with quarter repeating and alarm. 5 pillar gilt brass fusee movement with one going barrel for striking and quarter striking, and one for the alarm train (both with stopwork on upper plate). Rack striking on one bell, with double blows for each of the three quarters but the hour with single blows. The separate alarm train has two hammers for sounding against the same bell. The pull repeating also has a separate wheel train and sounds the hours (single blows) then quarters (double blows), with just hours sounded during the first quarter. The movement has a cylinder escapement with brass escape wheel, a finely chased and pierced balance cock with diamond endstone and a slide plate with a silver 'Tompion style' regulation disc. The potence plate is signed 'Rt. Markham, Fras. Perigal, London. 17432'. The blued steel pull repeat bar is situated just to the left of the V on the dial. There is a gilt brass cover edge surroundimng the movement, and Strike/Silent lever at IIII on the engraved gilt brass dial edge.
The while enamel dial has roman numerasl and arabic five minutes figures and has an alarm dial in the centre set manually. The centre of the dila is signed : 'ROBERT MARKHAM PERIGAL LONDON'. The hands are of blued steel. The pierced and engraved inner case has a convex glass cover over the dial. The base metal outer case has silver rims and edges and is coverd with tortoise shell, attached with silver collars around the sound holes in the front bezel and back of the case.
