Medal commemorating the relief of Barcelona and other successes, 1706. Obverse: A segment of the globe, clouds obscuring the sun above. Legend: 'SIC OBSCURATUR GLORIA MAGNI REGIS' (Thus is obscured the glory of the great king). Inscribed on globe: 'EUROPAE'. Exergue: 'MDCCVI'. Reverse: Three inscribed circular medallions around a medallion head of King Charles III 'CAROL . III . HISP . REX', showing: (1) Barcelona relieved; BARCINO . LIBER . XII MAY;, (2) the entry into Madrid 'INTRA . MADRI . XXVI . IVNY'; and (3) the battle of Ramillies 'PROEL . RAMIL . XIII MAY'. Legend: 'DOMINUMQUE IN REGNA TULERE' (And they brought the master to his kingdom). A variety of MEC0151, more of Europe being shown and lettering smaller. 'EUROPAE' placed higher.
