Medal commemorating Admiral Nils Stjernschöld (1583-1627). Obverse: Shield bearing Admiral Stjernschöld's arms with crested helmet and scroll. Legend: 'NICOL . STJERNSCHÖLD R . S . SENATOR ET CLASSIS PRAEFECTUS.' (Nicholas Stjernschöld, Senator and Admiral of the Kingdom of Sweden.) Reverse: Hercules in a lion's skin kneeling within a starred circle representing the constellation of the same name. Legend: 'QUEM VIRTUS ADDIDIT ASTRIS.' (Whom valour set among the stars.) Exergue: 'POST CLARISS . RES GESTAS PRO PATRIA OCCUB . MDCXXVII.' (After most illustrious achievement dies for his country, 1627.)
