Medal commemorating Admiral Count Wachtmeister (1641-1714). Obverse: Bust of Admiral Wachtmeister with long hair, draped (right). Legend: 'HANS . WACHTMEISTER . COMES . SENAT . R . ET . THALASSIARCHA.' (H. W., Count, Royal Senator and Admiral.) Reverse: View of Karlskrona harbour and four ships (right). Legend: 'HABES ADITUM MANSURAE IN SECULA FAMAE.' (Thou hast an entrance to fame that shall endure for ever). Exergue: 'STATIONE CLASSI CAROLICORONAE PARATA.' (A harbour prepared for the fleet at Karlskrona.) When peace was concluded with Denmark after the battle of Kjöge Bay in 1677 the admiral organized Karlskrona as a naval base.
