Counter commemorating the Battle of Doggerbank, 1781. Obverse: The Dutch lion, sword in right paw, caduceus in left, standing at an altar gazing at a rayed eye above. Legend: 'VII HOLL : TEGEN IX ENGEL : SCHEEP : VICTOR : BEVO :' (Seven Dutch ships gained the victory over nine English). Exergue: '5 AUG : 1781' Reverse: Inscription (beneath a garland), 'PAS KOOMT DE VLOOT IN ZEE MET NEERLANDS HELDEN STOET, OF S'VYANDS TROTS HEYD ZWIGT VOOR VADERLAND SCHE MOED.' (Hardly had the fleet with the Dutch heroes put to sea than the enemy's pride falls before the courage of the Fatherland.)
