Balance

Used on Nares' Arctic expedition 1875. Brass balance beam of a pair of scales. Abandoned during retreat with HM sledge "Sir Edward Parry" along the North coast of Greenland in 1876. Recovered by Dr Peter Dawes at Repulse Harbour, Nyeboe Land, N Greenland 10 August 1966. Used for weighing out sledging rations.
