Naval reward medal. Obverse: Naval reward, 1692-93. Head of King Louis XIV in a long wig with curls on the neck (right). Legend: 'LUDOVICUS MAGNUS REX CHRISTIANISSIMUS.' Reverse: The king, seated in the stern of an antique galley (right), a trident in his left hand, presenting this medal to a sailor. Legend: 'VIRTUTI . NAUTICAE . PRAEMIA DATA.' (Reward given for naval valour). Exergue: 'M . DC . XCIII.'
