John Harrison

Print depicting John Harrison (1693-1776), seated at a table with his famous marine timekeeper, H4, on display. There is a curtain swag to the right behind him. This image was engraved by William Holl in 1835 after a 1768 engraving by Philippe Joseph Tassaert from the original oil painting by Thomas King (ZBA2249). This impression appears to be a reworking , also relettered, of the original Holl plate of 1835 which does not include the curtain. See prime copy, PAD2851.
