Hastings halfpenny token. Obverse: Port broadside view of a cutter under sail, a semi-wreath of oak below. Legend: 'SUCCESS & SAFETY ATTEND THE ENDEAVOUR.' Reverse: Coat of arms of the town suspended from a love-knot within a semi-wreath of palm (left) and laurel (right). Legend: 'HASTINGS HALFPENNY'. Below: '1794'. Inscribed (on edge): 'PAYABLE BY JAMES TEBAYS HASTINGS'. Hole punched and 'M A' stamped.
