Prize medal of the School of Engineers, Chile, celebrating the centenary of independence. Obverse: An oval badge surmounted by a wreath of palm leaves tied with a ribbon and bow (centre). A cadet standing (left) on deck; a female figure seated (right) holding a rudder in her left and a spray of flowers in her right hand outstretched to him; a boats screw and, at her feet, a battleship in distance. Legend: 'MARINA DE CHILE.' Reverse: Inscription (above), 'ESCUELA DE INJENIEROS.' (School of Engineers.) Below, a scroll inscription (incuse): '1910.' Fitted with a loop, it was usually was awarded with a national tricolour ribbon, blue, white and red now missing.
