Rectangular shaped ingot. Obverse: Starboard broadside view of 'Flying Cloud', sails set. Inscription: 'FLYING CLOUD'. Reverse: Inscription, 'FLYING CLOUD 1851. An outstanding example of American clipper ship design, the "Flying Cloud" set a new record on her first passage between New York and San Francisco. Designed and built by Donald McKay, the "Flying Cloud" reigned as "queen of the California clippers" in the early 1850s.'
