Obverse: Head of Queen Victoria with a diadem and veil. Legend: "VICTORIA REGINA". On tablet: "1881 NATIONAL FISHERIES EXHIBITION". Reverse: A tablet in front of clumps of seaweed, a shell and two fish above, a life-belt (L) and a crab below. Inscription on edge: "GEORGE REID FOR HIS INVENTION TO PREVENT COLLISION AT SEA". Truncation: "-?- WYON." Fitted with loop and ring suspended from a bar and dark blue ribbon with brooch pin as worn.
