Obverse: Bust of Queen Victoria in a diadem and veil (left) Legend: 'VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX'. Reverse: Within a laurel wreath tied with a bow. Inscription: 'S.S. DRUMMOND CASTLE 16 JUNE 1896'. Legend: 'A TOKEN OF GRATITUDE FROM QUEEN VICTORIA'. The Drummond Castle was wrecked off Ushant and the medal distributed to many inhabitants of the island and places in the vicinity who gave assistance. Fitted with a cusped bar and plum-coloured ribbon.
