Distinguished Service Cross 1936-47
Distinguished Service Cross awarded to Lieutenant Commander John Leslie Younghusband for services while in command of HMS ‘Wild Swan’ during World War II.
The medal is in the form of a plain silver cross pattee, convexed. In the centre of the obverse is the Royal Cypher and on the reverse is inscribed, ‘J.L.Younghusband 1940’. It is suspended from a blue ribbon with a central white stripe and is held with its fitted box of issue. The medal is mounted on a bar with seven others: 1914-15 Star (MED1229), British War Medal 1914-18 (MED1230), Victory Medal 1914-18 (MED1231), War Medal 1939-45 (MED1232), Atlantic Star (MED1233), Defence Medal (MED1234) and War Medal 1939-45 (MED1235).
