        Obverse: Within a lifebelt a three masted square rigger with sails set. Naval crown and anchor below. Legend: "FOR MERIT AND EFFICIENCY THE SHOTLEY MEDAL". Reverse: Bust of Nelson in undress uniform. Legend: "ENGLAND EXPECTS THAT EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY". Inscription on edge: "C.H.A. DONALD MARCH 1923". Hallmarked. Fitted with a loop and ring.
