Symbolic female figure with an anchor, representing Hope
Oval pendant, predominantly in brown and grey watercolour, in a rather crudley made oval copper suspension frame (not apparently a locket for carrying on the person). It shows a symbolic classical female figure representing 'Hope' standing on a shore on the right, with what appear to be cypress or similar trees behind. She looks left towards a ship at sea beyond, and leans on a large vertical anchor. The item has a green-leather, velvet-lined case which may not be original.
