Aneroid barometer
This aneroid barometer is of the brass drum type and has a silvered dial and a brass suspension ring. A rotatable vernier allows accurate readings of the scale to be taken. There is also a thermometer beneath the dial.
The barometer once belonged to Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh (1844-1900), who served in the Royal Navy for many years - 'Alfred' is written above the crown on the face of dial above the maker's name. The barometer was presented to the Museum by Queen Mary in 1936 with a number of other objects including NAV1504 and NAV1505.
