Account Book of slave ship HECTOR (1756) for three voyages.

Accounts for three separate voyages organised by John Chilcott & Company dating from 1770 to 1776, sailing from Bristol to Angola in West Africa where Captain William Lewellis sold his cargo and 'collected' Africans and Ivory. It then sailed to South Carolina where the Africans were sold into slavery / enslavement. Includes an invoice of goods mostly provided by the investors John Chilcott, Thomas Deane, Thomas Longdon, John Reed and Archibald Robe; instructions for the Captain which includes where to buy / enslave Africans, how to look after them and where to sell them; a crew list; letters and bills for each voyage and a net return on each voyage.
