Jug
Stoneware jug, decorated in relief with four portrait profiles after the Wedgwood medallions by John De Vaere. They depict John Jervis, Earl St Vincent (1735-1823), Admiral of the Fleet, Richard, Earl Howe (1726-1799), Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) and Admiral of the Fleet, Adam Duncan (1731-1804). The jug is cream-coloured with the top glazed brown. The four portraits have their names incised below: 'St Vincent', 'Nelson', 'Howe', 'Duncan'; an addition there are two oval panels showing naval cutters; two pairs of dogs, a goat and a deer. A line of acanthus foliage runs around the base and in a vertical line below the spout. There is also foliage around the rim and single flowers placed at intervals around the neck.
