Spanish naval ensign (1785-1931)
Spanish naval ensign belonging to James Everard RN d. 1825. Design in use 1785-1931. Wool bunting, linen hoist, hand sewn, design painted. Five ties to attach flag to staff. Three horizontal stripes red, yellow, red. On wider yellow stripe, an oval containing the arms of Castile (yellow castle on red field) and Leon (white field with red rampant lion) a crown above. Losses at fly end.
