'Court House, Berbice'

Mounted with ZBA4858 and ZBA4859 on page 2 of Fanshawe's West Indies, North American and Borneo scrapbook (ZBA4855). Berbice is the easternmost division of former British Guiana, its capital being the town of Berbice also previously known as New Amsterdam. This view is of the square-set Court House there with sea to the left. Fanshawe's memoir says he visited Demerara, which is largely the area between the Berbice and Demerara rivers of British Guiana and presumably drew this view during the same winter cruise (see summary with ZBA4856).
