Journal kept by Lieutenant Thomas Suckling, 1864-1868.
The journal includes his service as a sub-lieutenant on the ironclad HMS ZEALOUS between 1866 and 1867. The ZEALOUS was the flagship of the Pacific Station at a time of extreme concern from the British government and Admiralty about a Fenian conspiracy against British interests in North America.
