A middle-distant starboard profile of the light cruiser HMS 'Penelope' (1914) underway in the North Sea. Her sounding boom is rigged from the starboard bridge structure. The photographer was standing on the deck of the light cruiser HMS 'Aurora' (1913).

The negative has a couple of scratches on it, one of which has been touched up.
