Model coffin

Model coffin with a hinged lid. The coffin is lead lined and scratched on the inside 'Wood & lead of Nelson's coffin's'. The coffin is decorated with copper handles and silver studs. A silver plaque on the top of the hinged lid, reads 'NELSON & BRONTE. / AETATIS 47. / VICTORY. / off / TRAFALGAR. / 21st Octr 1805.'. Inside the lid is another plaque, with the inscription: 'The Gift of WALTER BURKE ESQR: Purser of Hs Mjs Ship, VICTORY, Who with painful feelings Supported the Dying HERO. In his Last Moments. To S. Lamprey Esqs'.
