Vesta case

Oblong, silver vesta case with hinged sprung lid and ring attached to one side. There is a striking surface on the base. Engraved on the front is the badge of the Prince of Wales and the motto: 'ICH DIEN', 'E', 'HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE'. On the back: 'Presented to Patrick J. Hyland by H.R.H. the Prince of Wales Oct. 15. 1925.' The vesta case was presented to Patrick Joseph Hyland by Edward, Prince of Wales at the end of a tour to South America. Hyland had been in charge of the royal launch during the tour.
