Token box commemorating Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805). A circular silver box with a lid, a shield engraved on the base. An oval ivory plaque on the lid is glazed and painted with a women in a white dress with a yellow sash, leaning on an anchor, a warship behind. The box contains four silver tokens. (a) Obverse: The admiral's bust, profile facing left. 'ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY'. Reverse: 'ABOUKIR / 14 ENG / DEFEATED / 15 FRENCH / 10 TAKEN 2 BURNT / AUG 1 1798.' (b) The admiral's bust, profile facing left. 'ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY'. Reverse: 'COPENHAGEN / THE DAN. FLEET / OF 17 SAIL / TAKEN, SUNK / OR DESTROYED / APRIL 2 1801.' (c) Obverse: The admiral's bust, profile facing left. 'ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY'. Reverse: 'ST VINCENT / 15 ENG. / DEFEATED 27 SPANISH / & / CAPTURED 4 / FEB 14 1797.'
