A white wax profile plaque depicting Sir John Franklin (1786-1847) in low relief, facing right. On a blue velvet background, in a gold mount and a turned, glazed wooden frame with a suspension ring. In ink on the reverse: 'A very faithful likeness of the great Arctic explorer Sir John Franklin RN taken from life when he was governor of Tasmania about the year 1842.'
