Dessert knife
Nelson also purchased from John Salter the silver-gilt dessert knife with ivory handle which is displayed with the cup. The blade is inscribed ‘To my much loved Horatia 21 August 1805. Nelson & Bronte’. The knife was given to the National Maritime Museum in 1939 by Horatia’s grandson, the Revd Hugh Nelson-Ward.
